Required training:

There are three types of training: vocational training, technical college and university. The different programs will lead you to varied careers in the aerospace and aircraft industries.
Here are the main training courses available.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Vocational training centers offer programs which will lead to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or to an Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS).These will open doors to different career opportunities in the aerospace and aircraft industries, such as:

Use of composite material

Degree: DVS
Goal of the program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to manufacture parts using several molding techniques; to manufacture templates; to build and fix molds made of composite material and to assemble composite material components.
Professional outcome: Plastic Product Assembler, Finisher and Inspector
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturing companies (plastic product division)

Cable and Circuit Assembly

Degree: DVS
Goal of the Program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to be able to accomplish manufacturing work and mechanical assembly; to install harnesses in an assembly; to assemble and install system components; to assemble printed circuit boards and to maintain aircraft electrical systems.
Professional outcome: Aircraft assembler
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturing, maintenance and revision companies

Aircraft Structural Assembly

Degree: DVS
Goal of the Program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order be able to carry out aerospace-specific assembly techniques (such as rivets and sealants); to form a sub assembly; to fabricate simple structural parts; to perform mechanical assembly tasks and to install parts of an aircraft structure.
Professional Outcome: Aircraft Assembler.
Workplace:  Aircraft and aircraft components manufacturing companies.

Aircraft Mechanical Assembly

Degree: DVS
Goal of the program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to carry out assembly, installation  and troubleshooting for transmission,  motors and accessories,  control, flight and landing systems;  as well as machining, riveting/deriveting and balancing rotors.
Professional outcome: Aircraft assembler
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturers

Tool Making

Degree: AVS
Goal of the program: to acquire the necessary knowledge in order to carry out tracing, tooling and assembling methods; to make and repair cutting tools, guide and drilling jigs, calibers or machining equipment.
Professional outcome: Metalworking machine operator.
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturers

Flight Dispatch

Degree: DVS
Goal of the program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to prepare and follow up on flights; to draw up flight plans and weight and balance estimates; to ensure fuel, equipment and food supplies; to maintain communication with crews, especially regarding operation, weather and flight conditions
Professional outcome: Flight dispatcher
Workplace: Air operators

Machining Techniques

Degree:  DVS
Goal of the program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to perform machining tasks (turning, milling, boring) on conventional machine tools; to perform machining tasks on numerical control machine tools.
Professional outcome: Machining Tool Operator
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturers

Precision Sheet Metal Work

Degree: DVS
Goal of the program: To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to create and trace various patterns; to cut out, make and assemble sheet and other metals; to perform general sheet metal work relative to the aerospace industry.
Professional outcome: sheet metal worker
Workplace: Aircraft manufacturers

Numerical Control Machine Tool Operation

Degree: AVS
Goal of the programG:  To acquire the necessary knowledge in order to interpret complex drawings related to numerical control machine tool operation; to carry out manual and automatic programming; to perform basic and complex machining operations on a machining center and on a numerical control lathe.
